Creating a Social Networking Site for my Company

The first stage for me was to set up the Twitter account for my company which would be created through a simple online prodeure. I began by logging onto the main Twitter networking homepage and clicked on 'create a new account' which would detail me a simple step to step guide to follow. The primary aim here was to set up the Twitter name under 'Mindscape Motions' and then to fill in a recipient email adresse under circumstances I couln't access the account and a password for security reasons.

After the essential details had been submitted Twitter prompted me to follow other accounts in an attempt to elicit publicity and interest from other users. SInce this isn't a real company in the media business and that it is just for a coursework project I only followed accounts that would relate to the genre of media my company was based upon, an example of the accounts I followed were 'BBC One' and 'National Geographic'

Once this process was complete a feed was displayed to me on the recent updates section, this allowed me to gain an insight into who I was following where doing, some of the information I received was of recent BBC programme entries and what to expect on the television network for 2014. If I ever desired to I could upload a similar tweet to my company about my documentary 'The Girls Who Wouldn't Eat' to maintain a professional edge as if this was a authentic film business they would virally inform their audience about upcoming products to create interest and a 'buzz' about the new production to attract the greatest viewing audience as possible.

To make my Twitter page for 'Mindscape Motions' more appealing I uploaded the documentary poster I created as the header for the profile, this way if a member of the public was to view the page they would be able to relate the image of 'The Girls Who Wouldn't Eat' to the production company, spreading recognition about them. it also makes the profile more attractive so it would encourage interest if someone was to stumble across it whilst browsing by an accident. Most importantly I broadcasted a 'Tweet' containing information about the latest documentary produced by 'Mindscape Motions' ('The Girls Who Wouldn't Eat) in an attempt to renounce it to mainstream society in order to create a 'buzz' about it for when it is distributed.

Similarly I created a Facebook page as well to elicit interest from my target audence. Since Facebook ultimately is the most used social networking site in the world it would be highly likely my company was to be more noticed here rather then any other website.

I undertook the same steps as what I followed when creating the Twitter account, I submitted email, password and display name details to the software to create the initial stages of the account. From here I added into the biography box 'The Official Facebook Page for Mindscape Motions' as if this was a real company the audience would want to follow the authentic liked page rather then a doppleganger

From this task I learned how valuable it was for a company to rely upon social networking sites as a method of generating interest as this overall would attract more audience attention then traditional advertising methods (like a poster in a magazine for example) as the internet is so widely used compared to them therefore is a more profitable marketing strategy for my industry.
